The art of the Scrapbook: Cecil Beaton

Cecil Beaton; having worked with the likes of Grace Kelly and the British Royal family and featured in Vogue and Vanity fair throughout his career can indefinitely be described as one of the most important and influential photographers of all time.

After becoming so familiar with his work, through the sheer vastness as well as through his influence on others, it is now that we get a real insight into Beaton as a man. Throughout his life the famed photographer scrap-booked everything from cinema stubs to articles and images that appealed to him.

These pages have been scoured with the most important pages plucked out for us to enjoy. These will then be featured in the new release of Cecil Beaton: The art of the Scrapbook giving an unheard insight into a genius. The book will be sold for £170 at specialised stores.

Heres a little sneak peek.....

Nailed It

In the real world, catwalk trends aren't that easy to adopt... especially if you're like me and don't have infinite funds or designers queueing out the door to lend you clothes, so if your struggling to find something from this seasons shows that you can introduce into your fashion repertoire, go for the simplest and yet most prominent trend... nails!

All of the designers this season paid particular attention to nails, not just making them uniform but giving them character. Whether your a simple long black talon girl or prefer fun, blinged out nails, theres something for everyone. My fave of them all being at House of Holland with ctfo! (chill the fuck out!) on one hand and nalgo (not a lot going on) on the other! Or if you're a little more creative ala Rihanna slap a face of inspiration on there!!

So go crazy, be trendy and don't break the bank... winner!

Yes, I said mullet dress

You heard correct and even if you haven't heard of the mullet dress you've definitely seen it on every single red carpet event this season.

Loosely based on that oh so attractive haircut from the 80's described as "business in the front, party in the back" (excuse me while I vom) the mullet dress follows suit with its length being short and cocktail in the front and long and red carpet appropriate in the back.

Many celebs have attempted to rock the mullet, heres a little selection...

January Jones at the Emmys in Versace

Katy Perry in Manish Arora

Diane Kruger in Chanel

Gemma Arterton in Balmain

Miley Cyrus in DSquared2

Rihanna in Marchesa

Kate Bosworth in Nina Ricci

Sienna Miller in Pucci

Liv Tyler and Stella McCartney both in Stella McCartney

Boys make passes at girls who wear glasses

Man of the moment, Mr Tom Ford has wowed us once again. Not only is he genius in his designs, he then turned his hand to directing the very fashionable film "A Single Man" which has quickly become one of my favourite films of all time and now he's photographing his own campaigns.

With model of the moment Freja Beha Erichson and Single Man star Nicholas Hoult fronting Fords 2010/2011 eyewear campaign it's a sure hit. As a glasses wearer myself, I would gladly wear any one pair of these glasses, minus the birds.

Beach Beauties

Beaches have this amazing ability to uplift anyones mood, so what better backdrop to show off the summers most beautiful items.

This post is occurring as a result of me feeling sorry for myself that the days are getting dimmer and dimmer! Bring back the sun!

Full Fringe Fury

Even though I didnt so much as hint toward the fact that I wanted a fringe, a fringe is what I got. So im learning to love it.

I do not look remotely as good as any of these women, but for the purposes of my own sanity, im going to imagine that I do.

The original girls best friend

It seems that the new hot accessory isn't a satchel bag or or huge ethnic jewellery, but a pooch!
Every paparazzi shot from blake lively to Madonna shows them sporting the new trend of having a cute little puppy by your side and the fashion spreads are following suit!

Just remember a puppy isn't just for autumn/winter 2010, its for life!
